PIR Panels
Square polyisocyanurate (PIR) sandwich panels are made in our own factory on three continuous German Hennecke foaming lines for cold storage warehouses, freezers, and clean food processing rooms.
With ≥93% closed cell foam, thermal conductivity ≤0.022 W/(m·K), and tight cam lock joints, panels are cut up to 12 m long with SUS304 or SUS316 stainless steel, coated steel, or aluminum skins.

High Compressive & Bonding Strength
Through thickness compressive strength ≥ 140 kPa and skin to core tensile bonding strength ≥ 100 kPa support long span ceilings and high bay cold storage walls.

Hygienic Metal Facings & Profiles
Available with smooth or ribbed coated steel, SUS304 or SUS316 stainless steel, or embossed aluminum skins for wet washdown rooms.

Rapid Cam Lock & Modular Assembly
Panels are cut to length at our factory with built in cam locks and tongue and groove seals for fast site assembly.

Hygiene and Food Safety
Airtight joint seals and nonporous food grade metal skins prevent moisture ingress, condensation, and mold or bacterial growth in chilled and frozen food zones.

How Each Subsystem Is Engineered
Open each section below to see how our PIR panels are built and installed.
PIR vs. PU vs. EPS: Material Comparison
PIR (Polyisocyanurate): Highest fire performance among organic insulation foams; chars to form a protective carbon layer rather than melting. λ ≤ 0.022 W/(m·K). GB 8624 B1 and FM 4880 fire ratings.
PUR (Polyurethane): Good thermal insulation (λ ≈ 0.024 W/(m·K)), but lower thermal stability and fire resistance than PIR.
EPS (Expanded Polystyrene): Higher thermal conductivity (λ ≈ 0.035 to 0.040 W/(m·K)) and lower compressive strength; unsuitable for subzero industrial freezers where moisture vapor drive is high.
For food processing facilities and cold storage warehouses, Square recommends PIR as the optimal balance of fire safety, thermal efficiency, and structural longevity.
Cam Lock System & Thermal Break
The cam lock joint is the critical interface:
- Cam mechanisms spaced at 300 to 500 mm along each vertical joint
- Quarter turn engagement draws panels together with 2 to 3 mm compression on the joint seal
- Integrated thermal break: nonmetallic strip prevents metal to metal contact between interior and exterior skins
- Tongue and groove profile with dual sealing lips: one warm side, one cold side
- Assembly speed: 2 to 3× faster than traditional screw fixed panels
Factory Manufacturing Advantage
Square operates an in our own factory continuous German Hennecke high pressure foaming line:
- Full control over foam formulation, closed cell ratio (≥ 93%), and density (38 to 42 kg/m³)
- Custom panel lengths cut directly to your facility height
- No dependency on independent panel suppliers for freezer enclosures or cold rooms
- Full batch traceability linked to quality control laboratory test records
Panel Selection by Application
Freezer rooms (−18°C to −25°C): 150 to 200 mm PIR. Stainless steel or coated steel interior with continuous vapor barrier.
Chiller rooms (0°C to +4°C): 100 to 120 mm PIR. Color coated or stainless steel per hygiene zone.
Food processing halls: 75 to 100 mm PIR. SUS304 stainless steel interior for daily CIP and high pressure washdown.
Blast & spiral freezers (−35°C to −40°C): 150 to 250 mm PIR. Stainless steel throughout with floor frost heave protection.
Installation & Site Support
Square provides full installation support:
- Pre installation: detailed panel cutting schedule; all panels precut to length before shipping
- Installation: Square supervisor on site, or full installation team available
- Joint sealing: food grade silicone sealant applied to all internal joints
- Quality verification: thermal imaging survey after installation to identify any thermal anomalies
