Fluidized Bed IQF Freezer

In June 2024, Square Technology successfully delivered and installed one of the largest Fluidized Bed IQF (Individual Quick Freezing) freezers for Liqun Group, one of China's largest supermarket chains.

As a trans-regional, multi-format, comprehensive large commercial group, Liqun Group takes the retail chain and commercial logistics distribution as its primary business while developing different business models. This year, they’ve stepped up their investment in the food industry.

They need a system that processes 7 tons of French fries per hour in Qingdao, their food factory.

To meet the unique freezing requirements of hot, steamy French fries, we developed a three-zone IQF freezer:

1. Cooling Chamber:
   • Temperature: Above freezing point
   • Function: Removes steam and sensible heat
   • Result: Steam condensates on the evaporator and drains out
2. Chilling Chamber:
   • Feature: Powerful upward cold airflow
   • Function: Rapidly forms a frozen crust
   • Benefits: Stabilizes shape, prevents caking, retains moisture
3. Deep Freezing Chamber:
   • Feature: Gentle airflow
   • Function: Reduces core temperature to -18°C
   • Result: Crispy, well-shaped, non-dehydrated French fries

1. Continuous Operation System
   • 7 evaporators in separate chambers
   • Sequential defrosting allows 7+ days of non-stop operation
   • Motorized louvers prevent steam escape during defrosting
   • Heated drainage system prevents ice buildup
2. Hygiene Maintenance
   • Real-time belt washer and dryer
   • CIP (Clean-in-Place) system for thorough cleaning every 7 days
   • Automated cleaning, sanitization, and drying process
3. State-of-the-Art Refrigeration System
   • Japanese Mycom two-stage compressor for reliable, energy-efficient operation
   • Siemens PLC and user-friendly HMI for automated control
   • VSD-adjusted compressor output for energy savings
   • Soft starter to extend compressor life
   • Patented oil recovery system for optimal heat exchange efficiency
